The instruction from our client for this renovation in Toowong was loud and clear – we need more space!
To maintain the beautiful charm of this original character home and provide the space that was desired, there was only one path forward – to raise the original home and build in under. There were a number of challenges to overcome with this project – a steep sloping block and property access on a busy road. Our clients requested a turning circle at the front of the home, which can be tricky when working with a 440m² block. The restrictions attached to the character home meant that changes to the exterior were limited, and instructions were firm from council that we could not build out from the core of the existing dwelling. After long and careful consideration with council, we had a win. An impressive entertaining deck and pool approved at the front of the property whilst keeping the character charm visible from the street. The end results speak for themselves, transitioning this whimsical cottage into a truly impressive forever home (with serious holiday vibes!)
