Can you do it here?

Trending Tuesday!!! This Italian home in the north-eastern city of Vicenza has a perimeter wall entirely made with straw bales and the main wooden structure is filled with straw bales and finished with a lime render both internally and externally. Bellissimo !

But could you construct a home with straw bales under the Building Code of Australia (BCA)?

Absolutely! Most straw bale construction uses a frame of timber or steel for the building structure to comply with the BCA. They have excellent insulation properties, are surprisingly resistant to fire, vermin & decay and the big bad wolf won’t be able to blow your home down as the structural capability of straw bales is surprisingly good with walls of up to three storeys being able to be constructed.
